Are you interested in watercolor painting but have no prior experience? No worries! This is a true beginners workshop on watercolor painting technique. Anyone who has attempted watercolor art or other forms of painting are also welcome.
You will be introduced to the basics and painting something every class, while building on the previous week’s learning. Each class session will provide the opportunity for students to share information and ask questions about watercolor painting. The class will cover:
- Supplies (brushes, paper types, quality vs. bargain items)
- Paint mixing
- Colors
- Hue vs. value
- How to create a color wheel (painting anything with only 3 colors)
- Stretching paper
- Painting on dry paper
- Painting on wet paper
- The value of "white space" (you will learn to paint a tree limb by not painting it)
You will need to bring to a set of watercolor brushes, a watercolor palette (preferably with storage cups), and one sheet of watercolor paper - this can be purchased at Hobby Lobby or from many other local stores.
