Jailer

Must be 21 years old. High School Diploma or GED. Valid Driver's License. This job admits prisoners to County Jail: books and searches inmates; collect personal belongings of inmates for safekeeping and advises inmates of all jail rules and regulations. Inspects prisoners and quarters to insure cleanliness and sanitation: supervises trustees engaged in work activities outside of cells. Inspect all items brought to jail or prisoners: Patrol entire jail by doing required security rounds to prevent escapes and maintain order. Assist in preparing various paperwork to track inmates while in custody. Can also transport or escort inmates to medical facilities, court proceedings, lawyer visits and other required daily functions. Must have or obtain certification as a jailer by the North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Standards Commission within one year of hire date. Must pass a criminal record check and credit check. This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. must be able to read and write legibly. Knowledge of basic computer skills preferred. Pay after certification: $39,93.00. Sign on Bonus: 1,500.00 ($750.00 payable after 6 months of employment, second enstallment payable after 12 months of employment.
